Ashville boosted their playoff hopes with an impressive 3-0 victory away at 3rd placed Sandbach United.
Villa were keen to right the wrongs of their 4-1 thumping at the hands of Sandbach at home in November. Ashville had to survive a couple of early scares including a fantastic save from Richard Cowderoy to deny a header after 20 minutes
Just before the half hour ticked around it would be the Wallasey side in front. Mark Madden doing excellently to set up Brad Shearwood who curled a beauty into the bottom corner
Ashville were firmly in control from that point onwards, the only real scare coming on 68 minutes when Cowderoy was once again forced into an excellent save as he put in his best performance in an Ashville shirt to date
It would take until the 80th minute for Ashville’s relentless pressure to pay dividends however. A deep free kick was allowed to drop at the back post where Shearwood smashed it into the net
The away side made it 3-0 just 6 minutes later. Nathan Whittingham intercepting a loose pass in the middle before finding Peter Morgan who won his foot race with a defender before sliding the ball beyond the keeper
It was a brilliant, disciplined performance from Ashville and should they keep up this form there should be no concerns about attaining that coveted final play off spot
Kids go free with any paying adult when Ashville entertain Alsager Town at Ray Parker Stadium this Saturday afternoon
