A commanding Ashville performance was rewarded for a win at home against Alsager Town in a promotion six pointer.
Despite piling on the pressure in the first half Ashville just couldn’t find the back of the net despite some less than confident goalkeeping the visitors’ Joe Lawton.
Alsager would go into the half a player short after Elijah Hearn received his second yellow card of the game.
The deadlock would be broken after an hour with one of the more bizarre goals you’ll see all season when a defensive header just inside the Alsager area came back off Mark Madden’s chest before finding its way into the bottom corner.
Ashville continued to dominate the game against the ten men of Alsager but the visitors did just enough to stay in the game. That was until the 85th minute when Regan Jarrett got a straight red card for a reckless foul. Alsager manager, Matty Russell also saw a red card for his excessive protestations.
Villa would seal the game up just a couple of minutes later when Connor Courtnell smashed a low drive into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
The Bullets would snatch a consolation with the literal last kick of the game when Sam Oko rifled a volley into the top corner.
The victory sees Villa move up to 6th and now sit only 2 points outside the playoffs as they enter the first of 3 straight away games to close the season at Runcorn Town on Tuesday
