Today (Saturday 15th June 2024), the North West Counties Football League held its Annual General Meeting in Blackpool. The meeting was headlined by the news that league Chairman, Paul Lawler, will be stepping down from his position at the end of the 2024/2025 season after 10 years at the helm. League Secretary and treasurer, John Deal, also announced that he too will be stepping down from his role in a double whammy of departures from the NWCFL board of directors.
During the event the draws for the first round of the Macron Cup and Edward Case Cup were made. In the Macron Cup Ashville were drawn away to familiar opponents in Stafford Town. The date and kick off time for this fixture will be announced once the league fixtures for the season are published in July.
Our last visit to Evans Park was one to forget as Villa were humbled 6-0 a little over a year after we ran out 5-2 victors in our first league game at the stadium. We will certainly be looking to get revenge for the most recent scoreline when we play Town in the Macron Cup later this season.
