The 2024 Ashville Football Club first team & under 21’s awards evening was held this evening and one player in particular was the headline act.
The awards started with a word of thanks from club chairman Peter Reynolds who also mapped out the plans for the clubs pathway going forwards. He confirmed there will be no reserves team moving forwards after the team folded at the end of last season. Instead the club will now focus on developing younger players to become the next generation of stars at Ashville.
We then heard a speech from Paul Downey, Under 21’s Manager, before he presented the Under 21’s awards. Jack Fradgley walked away with the top scorer award before the Players’ Player award was handed to Alex Whaley. The penultimate award for the Under 21’s was the Managers Player of The Year Award which was won by Fin Small. There was one final award to be handed out, a new award named after the late Brian Laycock. The Brian Laycock Award was given to Charlie Rimmer.
Then it was on to the first team awards. It was essentially a clean sweep for Peter Morgan who picked up the Players’ Player of The Year Award & Managers Player of The Year Award. It’s a great testament to Peter’s progress from the Under 21’s and into the first team. The young forward is now one of the stars of this exciting Ashville side and has committed to the club for the upcoming season. Congratulations Peter! There was one other award given out which was accepted by Shaun Farrall on behalf of Ben Greenop and that was the top scorer award. We wish Ben all the best as he moves to fellow NWCFL First Division South side, Sandbach United.
And that wraps up another brilliant awards evening, thank you to each and every one of you who came down to celebrate with us today and we can’t wait to see you all once again at the start of the new season. A quick reminder that season tickets are on sale now via the club shop on ClubZap.
