As per the announcement by the North West Counties Football League this morning (Monday July 1st 2024), we can now confirm our opening three fixtures of the 2024/2025 league season. We will once again be competing in the NWCFL First Division South, our third consecutive season in this division after getting promoted from the West Cheshire League back in 2022.
The beginning of the Steven Scott era will begin at home to Market Drayton Town on Saturday 27th July with kick off set at 3pm. We had mixed fortunes against the Gingerbread Men last season with an early season 4-1 defeat at Greenfields in August before returning the present in our penultimate game of the season at Ray Parker Stadium. It was a tumultuous season for Market Drayton who went unbeaten in the league until October before a losing streak which lasted until the end of the season. Another change at the helm for the Gingerbread Men and some solid business in the transfer market means that we certainly won't be underestimating our opening day opponents this season.
Following our opening day fixture we then travel to Cheshire on Tuesday 30th July to take on Winsford United. The Blues were another team we had mixed fortunes against last season, a 3-0 win at Ray Parker Stadium in August was met with a 4-0 loss at the Barton Stadium in the reverse fixture back in April. This will be Winsford's second season back at step 6 after dropping down from step 5 after the 2022/2023 season. Our fixture at Barton Stadium will kick off at 7:45pm
We will then return home the following Saturday on August 3rd when we once again welcome old adversaries to Ray Parker Stadium in the form of Foley Meir. The Staffordshire based outfit were relegated from NWCFL First Division South back in 2022/2023 and after spending one season back in the regional feeder leagues will once again compete at step 6 this season following promotion. We fared pretty well in our previous meetings with Foley, winning 3-0 at the McIntosh Arena on a blistering hot day back in August 2022 before a 0-0 stalemate at Ray Parker Stadium in April 2023. We would once again like to extend our warm welcomes to Foley Meir on their return to step 6 and we look forward to locking horns with them once again. This fixture will take place on Saturday 3rd August with kick off at 3pm.
The remaining season's fixtures are expected to be announced very shortly once the Isuzu FA Vase First Qualifying Round draw has taken place this Friday 5th July. We are proud to say we will once again be competing in this prestigious tournament and we look forward to Friday's draw with excitement and anticipation.
