Ashville Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper, Jamie Owen.

The 17 year old shot stopper made his debut for Villa in last week’s 3-1 win away at Cheadle Heath Nomads and been between the sticks for Ashville’s win against Wolverhampton Sports and Tuesday’s agonising loss to Barnton.

Owen hails from Stockport and has previously enjoyed spells at Curzon Ashton and Manchester Corinthians. Owen was in goal for Curzon’s incredible FA Youth Cup victory against Hyde United last season, a game in which his side had been reduced to 9 men.

The young starlet has settled in brilliantly at Ashville and has nothing but positive things to say about his new club: “My first impressions of the club have been that there is a great atmosphere amongst the players, fans and coaches and that there is a real hunger for success.”

Jamie is relishing the opportunity to play for “an ambitious club in a competitive league”. The 17 year old isn’t short of confidence either, with his message to the fans being short and simple: “My message to the supporters is that I will make your goal as safe as possible this season”.

Initially brought in as cover for the injured Jack Reynolds, Owen has excelled in goal and the impending return of Jack Reynolds is giving Ste Scott his “biggest headache of the season so far” ahead of what is sure to be an intense battle for the number 1 jersey.

Welcome to Ashville, Jamie Owen!
