Ashville fell to another home defeat on Saturday, falling a goal to nil against Cheadle Heath Nomads.
A good, competitive game for the neutral started rather chance shy but it would be the hosts who threatened first. A triple chance in the 13th minute saw a save and two blocks deny Lennox Allward, Junior Siyakhowla-Fani and Josh Maldon inside the area respectively.
From that point on it was an end to end game for large portions. Indeed, Nomads countered the aforementioned triple chance by going up the other end and may have scored but for the intervention of a great tackle from Shaun Farrall.
Sam McNeill had Ashville’s next best chance but he too was denied by a goal saving block.
Cheadle Heath had a goal chalked off just before the half for offside, much to Ashville’s relief.
Ten minutes into the second half and an incredible reflex save from Ryan Michael Forde kept Ashville out once more.
A double goal line block in the 70th minute added to Ashville’s woes as yet again they failed to convert from inside the six yard box.
With ten minutes to go Harrison Cunningham’s powerful header from a corner would prove to be the match winner for the visitors.
A moment of controversy would ice the game when Ashville appeared to have the ball over the line but the officials disagreed.
Ashville are next in action on 9th November when they host Wombwell Town at home in the FA Vase second round.
