Following an injury hit season thus far, Steven Scott has bolstered his squad once more with the addition of experienced midfielder Brad Shearwood.
The 31 year old joins Villa from NWCFL Premier Division high flyers, Lower Breck. Shearwood has played under Scott previously at FC Bootle before departing for AFC Liverpool where he captained the club and from whom he later joined Lower Breck.
Shearwood has experienced success in the Business Houses Championship and has moved to Ashville with the aim of expanding his trophy cabinet as Steven Scott’s side targets silverware this season: “I just want to help the club and my teammates as much as possible with our objectives this season. I’m looking to hit the ground running”.
Shearwood is no stranger to Ashville, a recurring opponent over the last few seasons, and has always held the club in high regard saying: “I’ve played against Ashville a couple times in the last few years and they’ve always been a solid side. It’s a great club with great people”.
The 31 year old is also no stranger to some of his new teammates as he revealed: “I know one or two of the lads already and I’ve played for Scotty before. I know what he’s about and how good a manager he is”.
But it’s not just his pre-existing contacts at the club that have helped him settle in, Shearwood has heaped praise on the club for the welcome he’s received: “Everyone’s welcomed me in already, I can tell it’s a boss group of lads here as well as the staff and everyone who’s involved”.
Steven Scott has also spoken highly of his new signing: “Brad’s a mercurial talent who I was lucky enough to manage a couple of years back. His game has developed significantly over the last couple of seasons and after a strong first campaign in the counties prem last season, he’s found himself at a bit of a crossroads”.
Scott also reflected on the pairs prior knowledge of each other from their previous stints at FC Bootle and how that will help our new signing settle in: “Having worked with him before we are confident we can get the best out of him and he’s a lad who’ll buy into what’s important in our dressing room”.
And the Ashville gaffer is also thankful to Lower Breck for their assistance in getting this deal done: “It’s been a while coming, massive thank you to everyone at Lower Breck for being so great with getting this deal over the line. Top club with top people and we wish them all the best this season. I’m really pleased to have Brad with us, welcome to Ashville Brad”.
