We are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Richard Cowderoy who arrives from Marine on dual registration until the end of the season
Cowderoy returns to Ashville as injury cover for Jamie Owen who unfortunately broke his wrist following our game against Wolverhampton Sporting Community
Cowderoy is no stranger to Ashville and it was at Villa where Rich made his senior debut back in 1998. Another spell followed some years later before the launch of a successful career which has spanned clubs across the English and Welsh leagues.
The former Bury FC goalkeeper has also represented the likes of; Prestatyn Town, Ellesmere Rangers, Oswestry Town, Litherland REMYCA, St Helens Town, Bootle, Llandudno and Connah’s Quay Nomads
The 41 year old was part of the Marine squad that won promotion to the National League North last season, an achievement he calls the “Proudest moment of my career to date”
On his first impressions of the club in its modern form the shot stopper said: “The clubs come a long way since I was here last, it’s great to see them in the counties and doing so well. I popped down last Sunday and the ground looks great and I’m so happy to be here”
Cowderoy explained on how this return to Ashville unfolded saying: “I’ve known Ste for a long time and with the emergency situation with (Jamie Owen) he just sent me a message and basically said would I be interested”. He continued: “I’m just looking forward to getting some minutes and helping the club get back on track a little bit, it’s a big cup game at the weekend so hopefully get a win there and carry on with that cup run”
“It’s great to be back and hopefully I can contribute to finishing off a successful season and I’m just looking forward to getting going”
The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Marine for helping us get this dual registration signed and sealed and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the season
Welcome back to Ashville, Richard Cowderoy!
