Ashville Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of striker Lee Turkington from Barnton.
Lee brings with him a wealth of NWCFL experience and will be a valuable addition to Ste Scott’s attack as the club targets promotion to the NWCFL Premier Division.
The Runcorn based forward spent time at Helsby before joining Barnton where he has been an ever present over the last couple of seasons.
Turkington is looking forward to getting started at an Ashville side that is “well run” and has “Major ambitions not only for this season but also in the long term which is something that really appealed to me and ultimately led to my decision to move here.”
The 30 year old forward revealed that he aims to help fire Ashville into the NWCFL Premier Division come the end of the season: “I just want to help the team achieve their goals for this season which is promotion and hopefully I can bag plenty of goals to help us make those goals a reality.”
“I just can’t wait to get started, I know most of the lads well from playing alongside them or against them over the years so it should be an easy transition for me” he added before praising the Ashville faithful saying: “The fans are amazing, they always bring the energy and that sound and atmosphere they create is unlike anything else in the league. They deserve to have some silverware to celebrate and I can’t wait to play in front of them as an Ashville player for the first time.”
Ste Scott is delighted to get this deal done for a player whom he tried to bring in during the summer: “Lee’s a lad I’ve come across for a few years now and a player I’ve wanted to bring into the club from day one so I’m really pleased to have him joining our squad”.
The manager continued: “He’s a talented, confident player who is a regular goalscorer at this level and we believe he can improve further and add to his already impressive tally of goals this season and help move our club forward”.
Villa fans will get to see Lee in action for his debut in next weekends game at home to Allscott Heath and the forward is “looking forward to getting started on the 15th” when Ashville welcome Allscott Heath to Ray Parker Stadium for the first time ever in a late valentines match up.
