The 40 year old brings a wealth of experience to Ashville having been a coach since leaving school; “I’ve been coaching since I left school, both as a job and for numerous clubs. I was part of the management team at AFC Knowsley where we achieved league titles and cup finals, and
promotions. I was also part of the management team at Prestatyn Town where in our first season, we had an excellent cup run, & ended the season in a respectable 6th position, all this after the club just avoided relegation the season before we came in.”
Seddon was a promising youth player and played alongside the likes of former Premier League stars such as Leighton Baines, Ryan Taylor and none other than Wayne Rooney during his time playing for representative sides for Merseyside and Liverpool as well as playing for Bootle School Boys and later on becoming a well liked figure at Bootle FC.
The former Blackburn Rovers trialist is also a former Liverpool Cup winner where he captained his Our Lady Of Walshingham side at Anfield where he scored twice in front of a bumper 2,000 crowd. “ I believe there were over 400 schools participating in the competition, and we came out on top; it’s something I’m extremely proud of.”
First impressions count for Seddon who has been impressed with what he’s seen from the club in his first couple of weeks: “I’ve been really impressed with the professionalism & dedication right throughout the club. From driving into the ground I was met by the lads on the gate who made every effort to make welcome. I’m looking forward to get to know the club, the fans and volunteers more as the season goes on.”
Ashville’s “ambition” and “potential” were key factors for our new Assistant Manager when deciding on joining the club: “Ashville first and foremost seems like a club with ethics and respect. It’s a club with big ambitions and potential, which I believe it’s well on the way to fulfilling and I’m excited to be a part of that journey.”
The youth pathway into the first team was also a big selling point for Seddon: “It’s also great to see some of the youngsters making the step up into the first team, which is important to me. The gaffer’s done an incredible job so far. He’s built a really good, competitive squad, and I’m here to help him continue the excellent work he’s already done.”
The former Bootle man is looking to take each game as it comes as the club seeks promotion and Edward Case Cup success this season: “It’s a bit of a cliche, but I never like to look beyond the next game. If we go into games with the right mindset & picking up wins, then everything else takes care of itself.”
And Scotty’s new right hand man has a message for the Ashville faithful: “To the supporters, thank you for the warm welcome you’ve already given me.
